Cassius and Julius Caesar

Chemistry in the 19th C.

Robert Boyle published Sceptical Chymist in 1661, in which he separated chemistry from alchemy and gave the first definitions of a chemical element, a chemical reaction, and chemical analysis.

The Cutty Sark

The Cutty Sark’s name is derived from a poem by Robert Burns called Tam o’ Shanter.

The Mad Hatter

The Mad Hatter is a reference to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, (Lewis Carroll).
