A Shako is a hat worn by members of Napoleon’s Imperial Guard. Wiki’s entry on the subject contains a sketch of a guardsman in uniform, wearing his Shako and holding his musket. The Guards were known for never retreating, until Waterloo. Faced by a withering British fire, they retreated and the demoralized French Army retreated with them, ceding defeat.
